My Rotary Story
My wife, Susan, and I have hosted Rotary Youth Exchange (RYE) students from Brazil, Taiwan, New Zealand (twice), and we now have our “other family” scattered around the world. I have served as a counselor to seven RYE students. I met my future spouse, Susan, in 1988, while we were both attending a Rotary Business Exchange party for a high school friend departing to South Africa. During my year as a club president, my club collaborated with the Phoenix 100 Club, which was celebrating its 100-year anniversary, in hosting a Feed My Starving Children packing event. Five-hundred-fifty volunteers participated and raised $35,000 for food. In 2012, Susan and I won the District Rotary raffle for a trip to South Africa and toured several Rotary service projects. I feel very fortunate to have been a Rotarian for thirty-three years.
