Lori Shepherd is passionate about her work as Executive Director of the Tucson Jewish Museum & Holocaust Center. She is driven to ensure that every visitor to TJMHC walks away with not just a historical understanding of the Holocaust but that they also take with them a new or renewed awareness and appreciation for Judaism as a religion, a culture, and a people.
Lori began her career more than 20 years ago with United Way of the Bluegrass as the Director of Workplace Giving and went on to serve several different nonprofits in a variety of leadership roles including Major Gifts Officer, Director of Development, and Executive Director. But it wasn’t until she was named Executive Director of El Paso Holocaust Museum & Study Center that she would develop her lifelong passion for the work of Holocaust remembrance and pedagogy.
Lori earned her Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy(R) in 2020 and her CFRE (Certified Fund Raising Executive) certification in 2021. While the work of TJMHC keeps her very busy, she is honored to serve on the Board of Directors and membership committee for the Planned Giving Roundtable of Arizona. She also lends her time as a member of the Diversity & Inclusion Committee for Stanford Online High School, where her son Zachary is in his senior year. When she is not working you will find her outside with her family, hiking or cycling around Southern Arizona’s many amazing trails.
