The Erickson School Reading Program (ESRP) focuses on tutoring at-risk African American second and third grade students at Erickson School in Tucson. The goal is to bring these students to grade-level reading proficiency by the end of grade three.

We will hear from Dr. Jimmy Hart, Director of African American Studies for the Tucson Unified School District, along with two representatives from Erickson – Rachel Romero, the school’s principal since 2019, and Kevra Rich, a Response to Interventions Specialist (RTI) for the African American Student Services Department.
