Since its founding in 1987, Project C.U.R.E. has become the largest provider of donated medical supplies and equipment to developing countries around the world. Project C.U.R.E., a frequent working partner of Rotary International, is the recipient of a Charity Navigator Four-Star Rating, the GuideStar Exchange Platinum Seal, and it is ranked by Forbes as one of the 20 Most Efficient Large U.S. Charities.

Ruth Sanchez is the Executive Director of Project C.U.R.E. in Phoenix. She has an extensive 20+ year background in corporate and business development, fundraising events, major gifts, diversity, team training, Six Sigma green belt, and nonprofit business management. Ruth began a 16-year career with American Express in the 90s and held multiple leadership positions in several departments. For her work implementing a fraud loss avoidance system platform resulting that saved $20M in potential losses, she was awarded the Chairman’s Award for Quality. As a business partner in Corporate Services, she implemented many multinational global card programs, including for IBM, Honeywell, Chiquita, 3M and Latin America International Corporate accounts. She also increased internal and external customer satisfaction ratings by implementing employee engagement and diversity programs, for which she was awarded the Great Citizen’s Award. Prior to leaving American Express for work in the nonprofit sector, she held a Program Leader position where she rolled out 40 new promotional global product campaigns and redesigned 50 new product programs involving platinum, gold, airline partnership features with membership rewards, increasing profit margins by $15M.

Ruth followed her heart for serving children with special needs by joining the ranks at Special Olympics in 2008. She held several Development Director Positions in Arizona, Northern California and Nevada successfully raising more than $7.5M between over 8 years. She was chosen as a planning and logistics leader in the 2012 & 2015 Special Olympics International Games in Greece and the U.S. She traversed Greece from Athens to Istanbul actively setting up 120 regional ceremonies as the Flame of Hope made its way to Summer Games Opening Ceremonies. Prior to joining the staff at Project C.U.R.E. in October 2018, Ruth was the Development Director at Hope 4 Kids International and implemented the development department, creating the infrastructure, implemented a new fundraising platform, and new revenue streams supporting Water, Child Sponsorship, Team Mission and International Project departments. She implemented a successful Ministry and Education Campus Capital Campaign raising nearly $500K and secured a donor with a gift match of $125K. Ruth implemented the H4KI Ambassador Council with members, donors, volunteers and supporters to increase awareness and funds for children and families in deep poverty across the globe.

She is a 20+ year volunteer radio broadcaster for Sunsounds of AZ, a radio reading station for the blind and disabled. Her radio program, Angels, includes stories that are both inspirational and motivational. Ruth has 2 sons, Paul Jacob and Joshua. She actively enjoys running, spin cycling, hiking, theater, theology studies, museums and writing short children stories.
