She’s an experienced, passionate, high energy, Hall of Fame Coach dedicated to student-athlete success on and off the court, with an excellent understanding of all aspects of women’s collegiate basketball. A proven winner at the highest levels, she’s a tenacious recruiter, motivator and nurturer of young talent who’s committed to player development.

As a graduate of Southern Connecticut State University in 1975, Joan Bonvicini got her first head coaching job at the age of 25. From 1991 to 2008, Coach B was the winning-est women’s basketball coach in University of Arizona history. She is now one of only 22 women’s coaches with more than 700 NCAA Division I wins during her career. In 1981, just two years into her career, she was selected as the NCAA Coach of the Year while at Long Beach State University. She also won Coach of the Year honors two more times at Long Beach (in 1984 and 1986) and in three other conferences during her career (in 1998 at Arizona, in 2012 and 2013 at Seattle University). Coach B was recently inducted into the University of Arizona Sports Hall of Fame, following her Hall of Fame inductions in five other institutions. She has also received multiple accolades for her off-court contributions to her communities, winning the Long Beach Citizen of the Year Award in 1989, the Tucson Woman of Courage Award in 2004, and the Tucson Woman of the Year Award in 2005. Coach B retired from active coaching in 2016, and is now both a broadcaster (for ESPN and PAC-12 Network) and a Tucson-based agent and financial representative for the New York Life Insurance Company. She is also on the Board of Directors of the Boys and Girls Club of Tucson, the Tucson Girl Scouts, and the Long Beach Exchange Club.
