Catalina Rotary Club Tucson is now a Gold “ShelterBox HERO.” This is the highest level of recognition offered by ShelterBox USA.

ShelterBox provides housing assistance in the form of shelter and related supplies. Since 2000, ShelterBox has helped over 2 million displaced people obtain temporary shelter. “We could not have reached them without the support of clubs like Catalina Rotary,” said Don Jorgensen, Volunteer Ambassador, ShelterBox USA.

In September 2021, Catalina Rotary donated $4,000 to ShelterBox for focused aid to Haitians made homeless by the recent earthquake there. In March 2022, Catalina Rotary followed up with a contribution of $7,000, designated to aid Ukrainian refugees. Some members have also contributed personally to support ShelterBox relief activities in Ukraine.

According to Catalina Rotary Club President, Jimmy Muñozcano, “The Catalina Rotary Club is proud to partner with an organization like ShelterBox in order to help fulfill our club goal of Changing the Lives of Young People in Need. The disasters in Ukraine and Haiti affect children and families just like those here in the US and in Tucson. ShelterBox is on the scene in those countries to offer help and we are grateful for the opportunity to assist them.”
