For 40 years, the Tucson International Mariachi Conference has been promoting awareness and traditional values of Mariachi Music and Baile Folklorico. Educational activities hosted by the conference increase knowledge, artistic and technical experience, cultural identity and pride in our youth and community.

This year, the conference celebrates its 40th anniversary with eight days of celebrations. Three days at the Tucson Convention Center feature Mariachi and Baile Folklorico workshops for students as young as eight years old, as well as adults.

Alfonso Dancil, has been active in the conferences for over thirty-five years. He is now the proud chairman of the Tucson International Mariachi Company Board of Directors, serving a second term for a total of then years. He will give us a run down of the different events starting April 29 and ending with a special Mother’s Day Mass at the Cathedral of Saint Augustine.
