To remember our mission of service, Catalina Rotary members brought bags of food and donated cash towards our Tucson Community Food Bank Drive. Per a recent update from President Pat, 376 pounds of food and approximately $500 was collected and delivered to the Food Bank. Thanks to all who contributed to this important community need.

The Meeting began with the Pledge of Allegiance lead by President Pat Egbert. M Craig gave the Invocation.

Mariachi Aztlan de Pueblo High School opened with a music selection. There were 15 students in the band under the direction of Band Director,Johnny Contreras

Members of the Mariachi group sat at various tables to eat and have fellowship with Rotarians.

Guests:

Jo Anne introduced guests and Phyllis introduced RYLA Delegates in attendance.

Many guests were in attendance for our annual Holiday Party at the Viscount Suites Hotel. Pat Egbert (wife Candy), Frank Presson (wife Jackie), Tony Spear (son Matt Spear), Olivier (wife Yael Smadja), Ron Goodsite (wife Sandy), Bob Stofft (granddaughter Erin Stofft), Barbara Kiernan (husband Tom), Pat Dwyer (husband plus guest), Pam Kerr (visitor), Chessers (one guest), and Merle Anderson ( one guest).

RYLA delegates and Junior Counselor were in attendance: Erin Stofft (Delegate), Martin Pham (junior Counselor) and Destiny Olea (Delegate). Destiny Olea is a member of the Aztlan de Pueblo Mariachi group. She joined our table with other RYLA delegates. The Tucson Sunset Rotary Club sponsored Destiny Olea for the Jan 2018 RYLA program.

Sergeant at Arms (Irv):

JoAnn was featured in an article in the Tucson Journal and she did not have on her pin. Carrie Allen contributed $20 to Happy Dollars because Club member Michael Troughton sold her home in 3 weeks. Irv stated that Michael should contribute as well for the free advertisement and he did. Al Chesser announced that Sharyn Chesser published her first book Starting Out Right, Positive Strategies to Guide Adolescents through Healthy Pregnancy and Childbirth.

Queen of Hearts (Pat Dwyer):

Once again, Dick Carlson’s investment did not payoff so the pot continues to grow.

Entertainment:

Maria Elena introduced the Mariachi Band. They played several selections and invited fellow Rotarians to participate in singing and hand clapping. Everyone enjoyed the music!
